Prenuptial, Postnuptial, and Separation Agreements

A marital agreement can protect a business, an inheritance, or a plan for your children from an earlier relationship. It works best when both people understand it and sign it freely, with full information about each other's finances.

I represent only you. The other person should have a lawyer of their own. I do not negotiate with the other person or their lawyer unless we agree on that in writing, at a separate price.

Why disclosure and timing matter

Under North Carolina's premarital agreement law, whether an agreement holds up can depend on whether it was signed voluntarily and whether each person had fair disclosure of the other's property and debts. Starting early, and exchanging complete financial information, protects you both.
